Hanging out with Elizabeth Olsen after enjoying her wonderful performance in the new Netflix film "His Three Daughters" at a Film Independent screening at the Linwood Dunn Theatre last night. In the film, both her sisters imagine her to be the "strong one" with the perfect life because she never asked them for help, & near the end the father apologizes to her for not having been much of a father to her for the same reason, because she just seemed so self-sufficient. Having learned from my first week in my adoptive home that crying wouldn't work, but that smiling at everyone in church would, I too spent way too much of my life pretending to be the "strong one" who never needed anyone else's help, until going to prison finally forced me to begin to realize what a lie that had been.
